Dana IRC Client

DANA IRC is a smart and  easy to use IRC client for either expert and newbie users. Use DANA as a full-features and ready to use IRC Client with any IRC server. DANA can be customized by creating individual skin-graphics and server-presets to provide special DANA-clients for special-events.

It’s a basic IRC client. It just connects and works. No file transfer or anything fancy. Between that, and ~300k file size, it’s blazing fast. It does let you store a number of servers, and even has a favorites list. It also connects to you favorite channel on launch, and the icon blinks if there is not connection.

Dana is full functionable in English, German, French and Russian. It’s easy, nice, colorful and the best it’s FREE.

Mibbit

Mibbit is a fully featured IRC Client which allows you to interact realtime with your friends. Chat, play games, colaborate on projects together and more. Mibbit is a webchat application that makes it easy for you to chat on thousands of IRC networks and connect with millions of other people wherever you are.

Mibbit client has the ability to connect to multiple IRC servers, including servers that use SSL/TLS,can join multiple channels, and can be configured auto-join often used channels. Mibbit uses the UTF-8 character set by default but can also be configured to use other character sets. It supports nickname tab auto-completion, an input history for each tab accessible with the up/down arrow keys, aliases, user menu commands, and saving of user preferences. Mibbit can parse smilies, links, channels, nicks, and mIRC color codes.

If you were looking for a software to help you with your IRC chating, then take this MZirc for a spin and check out its abilities for yourself. With this MZirc you can easily select the IRC channel to join and chat away.

MZirc is a user friendly interface for use with the Internet Relay Chat network (IRC). The software only has some basic features but a beginner will appreciate not getting lost in a lot of options.

MZirc is full configurable and graphic effects like colors, fonts, font-size, backgrounds, margins, text spacing, styles. The pop up font window (ctrl+k) inluding 16 colours (ctrl+e), bold (ctrl+b), underline (ctrl+u), reverse (ctrl+r), strikeout (ctrl+s), and [new] italic (ctrl+i).

All chat windows (including status, channels, privates and dialogs) are structured in a configurable and dockable tree view. The built-in object pascal editor and interpreter (uses a modified verion of JvInterpreter component from Project JEDI’s JVCL). You can handle software components and scripting using event handlers.

Quassel IRC

This Quassel IRC is graphical IRC client for Linux and Unix-like operating systems, as well as Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows operating systems. Quassel IRC is a modern, cross-platform, distributed IRC client, meaning that one or multiple clients can attach to and detach from a central core,  much like the popular combination of screen and a text-based IRC client such as WeeChat, but graphical. In addition to this uniqe feature, Quassel IRC aim to bring a pleasurable, comfortable chatting experience to all major platforms including Linux , Windows , and MacOS X as well as Qtopia-based cell phones and PDAs.

Quassel IRC has the unique capability to split the graphical component (quasselclient) from the part that handles the IRC connection (quasselcore). This means that you can have a remote core permanently connected to one or more IRC networks and attach a client from wherever you are without moving around any information or settings. However, Quassel can easily behave like any other client by combining them into one binary, which is referred to as “Quassel Mono”.

In simpler terms, the “monolithic” client is a response to requests for a client that behaves like every other IRC client. The monolithic client (GUI) is what makes the connections to the IRC networks. In normal operation, the client (GUI) connects to a core, it is totally incapable of connecting to anything else. The core receives connections from clients, and makes connections to the IRC networks, it also handles logging (currently everything gets put in the database).

Features on Quassel IRC

Quassel allows simultaneous connections to multiple IRC servers, Different identities can be created, Aliases, command “shortcuts”,encryption. Quassel stores discussion history in an SQLite database. When scrolling up through the chat window, older sections of chat are loaded automatically from stored logs. In this way, one can seamlessly view logs of past discussions.
