Even though this only in “tester mode” you can actually hope that the official final release of Google Talk that has an “INVISIBLE STATUS” would be available really soon. But right now, you can actually use invisible status in google talk if you download and used the labs edition of google talk (GTalk)

Beside the main features that we’ve been looking for (invisible status), in this labs edition also had an ability to make multipe GTalk sign in with more than one account (without need a gtalk multi id tricky ways like the old one), group chat / like conference or chat room though, emoticons, desktop notification from gmail, calender and social orkut, etc
